The Clippers lose to The Lightning on Saturday

The Briercrest Clippers were defeated by St. Mary’s University Lightning 62-91 Saturday afternoon. The Clippers starting off on fire, going on an 8-0 run off the bat in the first quarter, with plenty of ball movement in a fast-paced start. The Lightning however, struck back closing off the lead to just four points; finishing the quarter with a Clippers 19-15 lead.

In the second quarter, the Lightning came off strong and caught up to the Clippers playing much more physical and pushed the score to 33-42 into halftime. In the third quarter, both teams battled hard looking to push the ball, but resulted in fouls. However, the Lightning proved to challenge the Clippers and came up on top extending the Lightning’s lead to 44-65.

The determined Lightning continued to push the ball up the court in the fourth quarter, increasing their lead against the Clippers, finalizing a 62-91 score.

Player of the game for the Clippers was #14 Matt Blackaby, finishing the game with 14 points and four assists, in a strong game controlling the court for the Clippers. 

The Clippers take on the Medicine Hat Rattlers on Saturday October 20 at 8:00pm in Medicine Hat.
